YOGA - The west side's version :)

I remember hearing a debate on KKMS back in the Todd Friel days...... (man, I miss that brother!) The callers were chiming in about whether or not they thought that Yoga was okay for Christians to participate in. Wellp.............I have to say that the class that they offer at my gym is as disconnected from religion as it gets. It's just posing and breathing!

And although it is very obvious that the secular leaders of the fitness classes (including yoga) -(because they slip in little comments to let you know that they sadly follow a *false* eastern religion).......should I then not attend the class? They need the Gospel too!!

I'm thinking no........and I also think that they can sense that there are believers among the crowds. Hibby is going with me tonight, and I'm gonna want her to comment on this tomorrow.

Mohammed is in the grave, Budda is in the grave..... Jesus ISN'T.

yoga is derrived from ancient hinduism. i go to yoga alot, and since we live in such a relativistic culture where it is "wrong" to impose "beliefs", i don't hear anything about the spiritual other than what is going on with your physical body.

Yoga:
1. A Hindu discipline aimed at training the consciousness for a state of perfect spiritual insight and tranquillity.
2. A system of exercises practiced as part of this discipline to promote control of the body and mind.

Yoga is just a series of stretching & excersise that do nothing more then excersize the body. Call it whatever you will but, that's what it does.

My problem with Yoga is nto the excersizes performed but the mindset under which the excersizes are performed. SO if your gym does it with no "spirituality" in it, I don't even know if I'd call it Yoga. That's like saying you're going to a Christian church that's really just a social club (i.e. a gathering with no Godly teaching).

So... I don't even know why they call it Yoga other then the fact that it represents a set of stretching and excersizes that are good for the body.

Umm....an ironically wonderful point Frank.

It was a good class last night....not sure if I wasn't 'centered' or what, but I got nauseous and left after about 45 minutes...went home and slept through 10:30 this morning.
(still not feeling so hot, but better)

I love how my tiny balancing muscles get sore after yoga....it's very gratifying.

So- everyone in MN psyched up for the murder mystery at the Mall of America tomorrow night???

I'm not crazy about yoga. But if you insist on doing it, let me give you a piece of advice. When you go to class, don't stand behind the heavy-set, hairy plumber-dude. Ugh!! (shaking-off the willies)

I don't know.

I tried Yoga once and tried to get into the whole spirituality side of things, but my sissy teacher wouldn't let my pray to Vishnu or anything. Apparently that's not how things are done over there, and I figured "What kinda limp wristed diety is 'too humble' to receive prayer?"

So I kicked the statue of Vishnu, mooned my teacher and went down the street to a Tony Robbins Seminar where I learned that I'm god and I can do whatever I put my mind to! So, my first action as a diety?

I went to Wendy's for a Junior Bacon Cheeseburger! That's MY KIND of working out!

I'm such a fattie now, after a week of eating out and studying for exams! DOH! QUICK! TO THE GYM! POUND THEM PIES! YEAH BUDDY!
